CAE-Macmet wins Indian Navy and Indian Air Force simulation programmes
Bangalore, India, Feb. 13, 2008: CAE today announced that its new company in India, CAE-Macmet, has been awarded contracts by India's Ministry of Defence valued at approximately C$7 million to provide simulation systems to both the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.
CAE-Macmet will provide the Indian Navy with an action speed tactical trainer (ASTT) and provide the Indian Air Force with two Dornier DO-228 flight training devices and one MiG-21M fixed-base simulator.
Raytheon sees exciting times in Indian defence market
New Delhi, February 17, 2008: US defence major Raytheon sees "exciting times" ahead as the Indian armed forces plan to spend some Rs 155 billion (nearly $4 billion) on their modernisation over the next five years. And it will be here "for the long haul".
"You’d be mad if you didn’t say that. There are exciting times ahead but there are also patient times ahead," said Mark R Nicol, regional director (Asia Pacific) of Raytheon Missile Systems. It’s all about building relationships and we’re committed to that.
Scramble for Indian arms market
New Delhi, India, Feb. 16, 2008: India on Saturday kicked off the international defence fair, with hundreds of global weapons firms offering their latest hardware to the country's technology-hungry military. About 450 weapons companies from 30 countries are present, with several big-ticket announcements expected.
British defence technology will revolutionalise Indian military
New Delhi, India, Feb. 16, 2008: Positioning itself as the world's second largest arms exporter, Britain said that it would be only too happy to share its defence technology with India for the mutual benefit of both countries.
"Technology is playing an increasing role in today's military hardware. We would be only too happy to share this with India's defence industry," A.J.D. Pawson, head of Britain's Defence Export Services, told reporters here. "Our relations with the Indian armed forces are historical. We need to take these further," Pawson said.
Boeing, IISc, Wipro and HCL to develop network technology for aerospace use
New Delhi, February 5, 2008: Boeing has entered into an agreement with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and two leading Indian information technology companies to develop wireless and other network technologies for aerospace-related applications. The agreement, signed by representatives from Boeing, IISc's Society for Innovation and Development, Wipro Technologies and HCL Technologies, forms the Aerospace Network Research Consortium (ANRC).
New command and control (C2) systems to be deployed in Indian defence exercise
New Delhi, February 5,2008: The Brazen chariots exercise of the Indian Army and Air Force scheduled for later this month will witness the deployment of a comprehensive communication and data linking systems incorporating Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS) and Force Multiplier Command Post (FMCP). This is perhaps the first time such a comprehensive battlefield C2 system is being deployed in an Indian military exercise.
Rockwell Collins to set up engineering centre at Hyderabad

Telelogic signs 920,000 USD agreement with Asia Pacific based defense manufacturer
MALMÖ, Sweden and IRVINE, California, January 2, 2008: Telelogic (Nordic Exchange/MidCap/TLOG) today announced that an Asia Pacific based global defense manufacturer has signed a five year license and maintenance agreement for core components of Telelogic´s Solution for Enterprise Lifecycle Management (ELM), with a value of 920,000 USD.
India’s defence minister rues delay in defence purchases
New Delhi, Feb 4: At a time when India is on the verge of signing a number of mega-defence deals, the defence minister, Mr AK Antony, today pulled up defence financial controllers and asked them to frame speedy disbursement procedures which have been blocking the defence services from going in for weapons and platform purchases.
IAF to buy 40 more HAWK jet trainers
New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will buy about 40 more Hawk Advanced Jet trainers (AJTs) from Britain. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal F.H. Major told India Strategic defence magazine that IAF's original plan was to induct 122 AJTs but the acquisition got delayed by nearly a quarter of the century, and when the deal was signed in March 2004, it was only for 66 aircrafts.
