IDSA RANKED AMONG THE WORLD'S TOP 30 THINK TANKS

According to a survey conducted by the 'Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program' of Foreign Policy Research Institute, Philadelphia, USA, IDSA – the main partnering association of NECE 2008 - has been ranked among the world's top 30 think tanks. 'The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Programme' carried out this assessment in the year 2007. Initially, a universe of 5080 institutions was covered. Of these, 228 think tanks were short-listed by a panel of experts. The experts' panel was thereafter asked to develop a list of high performance think tanks that were either domestic or internationally oriented and had a regional or global reach, meaning that their programmes, scholars and publications were read and utilized by decision makers around the world.

IDSA was established by the Indian Ministry of Defence in 1965 and engaged in research in the area of defence and security. Its flagship research journal, Strategic Analysis, published by a renowned international publisher has a global reach. It employs nearly forty scholars, and is the only think tank from India included in the list of 30 leading think tanks.
